چکیده

This paper deals with the optimal control of a finite capacity G/M/1 queueing system combined the F-policy and an exponential startup time before start allowing customers in the system. The F-policy queueing problem investigates the most common issue of controlling arrival to a queueing system. We provide a recursive method, using the supplementary variable technique and treating the supplementary variable as the remaining interarrival time, to develop the steady-state probability distribution of the number of customers in the system. We illustrate a recursive method by presenting three simple examples for exponential, 3-stage Erlang, and deterministic interarrival time distributions, respectively. A cost model is developed to determine the optimal management F-policy at minimum cost. We use an efficient Maple computer program to determine the optimal operating F-policy and some system performance measures. Sensitivity analysis is also studied. 2007 Elsevier Inc. N-Policy for M/G/1 Machine Repair Model with Mixed Standby Components, Degraded Failure and Bernoulli Feedback

In this paper, we study N-policy for a finite population Bernoulli feedback queueing model for machine repair problem with degraded failure. The running times of the machines between breakdowns have an exponential distribution. The repair times of the machines are independent and identically distributed random variables. If at any time a machine fails, it is sent to the repairman for repairing,...

Multiple vacation policy for MX/Hk/1 queue with un-reliable server

This paper studies the operating characteristics of an MX/Hk/1 queueing system under multiple vacation policy. It is assumed that the server goes for vacation as soon as the system becomes empty. When he returns from a vacation and there is one or more customers waiting in the queue, he serves these customers until the system becomes empty again, otherwise goes for another vacation. The brea...

A Single Vacation Model G/M/1/K with N Threshold Policy

This paper studies a G/M/1/K queueing system, where the server applies an N policy and takes a single vacation when the system is empty. We provide a recursive method, using the supplementary variable technique and treating the supplementary variable as the remaining inter-arrival time, to develop the steady-state probability distributions of the number of customers in the system. The method is...

Emergency Location Problems with an M/G/k Queueing System

Since late 1960's, the emergency location problems, fire stations and medical emergency services have attracted the attention of researchers. Mathematical models, both deterministic and probabilistic, have been proposed and applied to find suitable locations for such facilities in many urban and rural areas. Here, we review some models proposed for finding the location of such facilities, wit...

A New Heuristic Solution Method for Maximal Covering Location-Allocation Problem with M/M/1 Queueing System

We consider the queueing maximal covering location-allocation problem (QM-CLAP) with an M/M/1 queueing system. We propose a new solution procedure based on decomposition of the problem into smaller sub-problems. We solve the resulting sub-problems both with a branch and bound algorithm and with the meta-heuristic GRASP. We also solve the entire model with GRASP. Computational results for these ...
